Merchandising Analyst

Create reporting to drive accuracy & efficiency across our team and analysis to guide Merchandising and leadership decisions.  We’re looking for a curious, detail oriented, logical and systematical thinker. Position Type: Full-Time
Work Location: Batavia, IL
This role is eligible to participate in ALDI’s Hybrid Work Program, which allows remote work up to 3 days per week (i.e., work remotely up to 3 days per week; work in-office at least 2 days per week).

Duties and Responsibilities: 
Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation. 
• Liaises with stakeholders within Buying, IT and Business Analytics to effectively design and streamline data management and analytical processes as directed by their direct leader.
• Consults with their direct leader to effectively design and streamline data management and analytical processes within the department.
• Recommends process improvements for area of responsibility.
• Understands complex business issues and identifies appropriate analytical methods to solve them.
• Leverages data analytics software to extract, clean, analyze, and visualize data, generating insights and predictions to drive company initiatives and support strategic business decisions.
• Develops and maintains extended knowledge of the greater National Buying Services and Operations departments to maximize efficiency in merchandising processes.
• Creates and manages technical and functional processes related to Spaceman, Smartspace, SAP data integration and planogram publishing.
• Reviews planogram performance and space allocations by providing reports and analyses to management.
• Creates and manages tools for National Buying Services and national committees that provide detailed analysis on ad-hoc project requests.
• Supports reviews that occur on a regular basis including Monthly, Quarterly, and annually.
• Analyzes work procedures with the objective of driving simplicity and effectiveness.
• Manages planogram data and supports planogram building processes.
• Performs ad-hoc analyses as required.
• Automates regularly scheduled processes to improve team efficiency.
• Maintains direct leader’s schedule and is aware of their daily engagements.
• Maintains strong documentation standards.
• Acts as the subject matter expert on technical and functional objectives within the department.
• Collaborates with team members and communicates relevant information to leadership.
• Complies with ALDI privacy and security requirements and policies if job responsibilities include possible access to confidential and/or sensitive information.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, or a related field required.
• A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in Analytics required. 
• Experience in learning new database schema and developing SQL queries required.
• Experience in data analysis in Excel required.
• Experience automating data analysis in R or another programming language preferred.
• Experience in data visualization and storytelling in Tableau or another software program preferred.
• Experience analyzing retail KPIs, conducting quantitative research, and gleaning insights preferred.
• Or, a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge. 
Physical Requirements:
• Work may be performed in an office, remote office or a combination of both where a computer and office equipment may be used as needed to perform duties.
• Regularly required to sit, reach, grasp, stand and move from one area to another.
• Constantly and repeatedly use keyboard/mouse.
• Occasionally required to push, pull, bend, lift and move up to 50 lbs. 
Travel:
• Minimal travel required as needed for job related duties such as training, project work and administrative tasks.
