ALDI is looking for an experienced individual to help strategically lead and manage our best-in-class claims management programs! Do you have experience with Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, Auto and/or Property claims? Do you know how to work with third-party administrators and insurance carriers to get the maximum value out of these relationships? This position will be responsible for motivating and engaging a team of risk management professionals that have oversight of and involvement in ALDI's Property and Casualty claims programs. This individual must bring to ALDI a balance of risk management knowledge, experience, and skills that will help us protect the organization and support our ALDI’s core purpose and values.
Position Type: Full-Time
Starting Salary: $160,000
Salary Increases: Year 2 - $170,000 | Year 3 - $180,000
Work Location: Naperville, IL
This role is eligible to participate in ALDI’s Hybrid Work Program, which allows remote work up to 3 days per week (i.e., work remotely up to 3 days per week; work in-office at least 2 days per week).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Establishes priorities and schedules within assigned areas of responsibility.
• Defines the tasks, deliverables, resources, and schedule necessary to deliver the solution.
• Participates in evaluating and approving insurance claims reserves and settlements.
• Ensures the training, development, and performance of their team’s staff to retain a motivated, professional workforce that achieves their career objectives.
• Recruits and recommends qualified employees for their team’s staff positions.
• Establishes, communicates and evaluates job responsibilities and performance expectations to their team to ensure a mutual understanding of desired results.
• Understands the overarching company strategy while communicating and modeling the core values of the organization to create a sense of teamwork and membership among employees.
• Communicates directly with and provides assistance to Store and Warehouse Operations teams to improve claim outcomes.
• Analyzes current working procedures and proposes process improvement initiatives to ensure the efficient and effective execution of the insurance claims management program.
• Updates leadership on any insurance and claims legislation changes or regulatory issues and potential impacts they may have on the business.
• Analyzes insurance claims data and trends to identify areas for improvement and prepare reports for leadership on claims performance metrics.
• Supports the overarching Risk & Safety team by liaising with insurance carriers, third-party administrators, actuaries, and other business partners by articulating claims management programs and initiatives.
• Consults with leadership on the development of their team's strategy.
• Advises leadership to source external vendors for applicable services when appropriate.
• Liaises with applicable areas of the business to ensure timely and efficient communication flow.
• Consults with the business to effectively design and streamline applicable processes within the organization.
• Keeps up-to-date on external best practices and relevant changes to their field/area; communicates updates to leadership.
• Collaborates with and strategically manages external business partners, including but not limited to third-party administrator(s), insurance carrier(s), insurance broker/consultant, defense counsel, and other ancillary insurance claims management vendors.
• Intervenes in and supports complex claims.
• Ensures the company’s insurance claims reserves are adequately and timely established for financial reporting purposes and compliance with policy guidelines and best practices.
• Leads the team that oversees insurance claims management, including but not limited to Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, Auto Liability, Auto first-party, and Property damage claims.
• Oversees and manages specific insurance claims management programs, including but not limited to claim intake, medical management, litigation management, and return-to-work.
• Oversees and supports the development of specific insurance claims management projects and initiatives from their conception through implementation, including proposals, project plans, cost/benefit analyses, timelines, status reports, budgets, and rollouts.
• Manages their team by driving projects and tasks to completion through effective prioritization, work planning, resource allocation, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Identifies cost-saving opportunities and potential process improvements.
• Serves as the primary link between their team’s staff and leadership to ensure understanding of company goals, objectives, and opportunities for improvement.
• Complies with ALDI privacy and security requirements and policies if job responsibilities include possible access to confidential and/or sensitive information.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Insurance, or a related field required.
• A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Claims Management, Risk Management, Insurance, or Safety, and retail operations required.
• Or, a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
Physical Requirements:

• Work may be performed in an office, remote office or a combination of both where a computer and office equipment may be used as needed to perform duties.
• Regularly required to sit, reach, grasp, stand and move from one area to another.
• Constantly and repeatedly use keyboard/mouse.
• Occasionally required to push, pull, bend, lift and move up to 25 lbs.
Travel:
• Minimal travel required as needed for job related duties such as training, project work and administrative tasks.
